What it does

Key features

  • Query Analytics (QAN): APAC slow-query ranking by cumulative time, count, duration
  • Replication monitoring: lag, GTID drift, binlog throughput for APAC MySQL/MongoDB
  • Self-hosted: APAC query data never leaves the environment (no SaaS dependency)
  • Multi-database: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ProxySQL for APAC heterogeneous fleets
  • Backup monitoring: Percona XtraBackup and PBM integration for APAC backup status
  • Grafana dashboards: pre-built APAC database dashboards with alerting integration
When to reach for it

Best for

  • APAC DBA and platform teams running MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB who need full-featured query analytics and replication monitoring with all data remaining on APAC self-hosted infrastructure.
Don't get burned

Limitations to know

  • ! Requires APAC infrastructure to run PMM server (Docker/VM) — operational burden
  • ! QAN does not capture 100% of queries by default — slow-query log threshold applies
  • ! Less polished UI than commercial alternatives for APAC executive-facing reporting
Context

About Percona Monitoring and Management

Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM) is an open-source database observability platform that provides query analytics, replication monitoring, and infrastructure metrics for MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and ProxySQL — all running on self-hosted infrastructure with no query data leaving the APAC environment. APAC database teams deploy PMM as a Docker container or VM, then install PMM Client agents on each APAC database host.

PMM's Query Analytics (QAN) module captures slow queries and provides ranked analysis by cumulative execution time, average duration, and call count — similar in concept to VividCortex but self-hosted and open-source. APAC DBAs use QAN to identify the highest-impact APAC queries for optimization without sampling gaps or SaaS data transmission.

For APAC teams running MySQL InnoDB Cluster, Galera Cluster, or MongoDB replica sets, PMM provides replication monitoring dashboards: lag per APAC replica, GTID position drift, binlog throughput, and replication error rates. PMM's integration with Percona Backup for MongoDB (PBM) and Percona XtraBackup adds backup status tracking — showing APAC backup job outcomes, last successful backup time, and backup size trends across APAC database clusters.

PMM runs the complete Grafana + Prometheus + Clickhouse stack internally, exposing dashboards for APAC database teams and integrating with existing APAC Grafana instances or alerting stacks.
